Do you feel nervous when you visit the dentist? You’re not the only one! We have many patients with dental-related anxiety and are well-versed in treating them! The last thing that we want is for you to avoid dental treatment. We have designed our office around comfort to help you relax as much as possible. In addition to these amenities, we also offer a few different types of sedation dentistry which can allow even the most anxious patients to fully relax and receive the dental care they need.
Sedation dentistry allows patients with dental anxiety to feel more relaxed during dental treatment.
Nitrous Oxide (also known as “laughing gas”) is a safe, non-irritating, colorless gas which you can breathe. The gas is delivered with oxygen so the patient is able to breathe on their own and remain in control of all bodily functions. Nitrous Oxide is the first go-to option as far as sedation goes. It provides many different anti-anxiety benefits! The biggest advantage of Nitrous Oxide is its quick onset and recovery. It only takes a few minutes to start working and recover, so you are able to drive home after your procedure without any problems. It also offers the convenience of adjusting the level of sedation at anytime during the procedure. Nitrous Oxide is safe for all ages and almost always helps kids relax! This is an extremely effective sedation option that we offer at Enamel to help you accomplish your dental health goals.
Oral sedation is the administration of anti-anxiety medicine by mouth prior to the patient’s dental appointment. This medicine gives an even deeper level of relaxation than nitrous oxide and in many cases the patient forgets what is going on around him. Patients are required to not eat or drink 6 hours prior to appointment and must have a responsible adult to escort them after the procedure.
At Enamel Dentistry we have sought out the most advanced training in sedation dentistry to make sure that your experience as a patient is safe and as comfortable as possible! Call us and schedule an appointment today!
