Dr. Devish H Patel
Professionally, I went to UT Austin for my undergraduate degree, dental school at UTHSC-San Antonio, and gained clinical experience in Dallas. So basically, like everyone else it seems, I’ve spent half my life on I-35. I actively participate in the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry. I’m working towards my fellowship in the latter as well as advanced training in dental sleep medicine.
Now that we’ve got my credentials out of the way, I want to tell you a little bit more about who I am as a person. I am the youngest of 3 children to Indian immigrant parents. Language barriers meant my parents worked blue collar jobs that required us to relocate a lot. I did not attend the same school consecutively until I got to middle school; which means I became very good at meeting new people and making friends. My hobbies include all things UT athletics; I live and breathe Longhorn Football. I’m fairly certain my blood type is BO—for burnt orange! I enjoy basketball, the outdoors, watching my favorite TV shows, and most of all, laughing. My favorite thing about being a dentist is that I have the luxury to take time and get to know my patients; I love laughing with them, sometimes with the help of gas! I want to be your dentist because I find fulfillment in helping others live a healthier lifestyle. Motivating others truthfully and dependably to care for their oral health is the foundation on which I practice dentistry.

Although I am not a native Texan, I’m as close as possible to being one. My family and I moved to the DFW area when I was about 2 months old and never looked back. I spent most of my early years there but went to undergrad in Pennsylvania at Penn State. Realizing that I missed the amazing tacos, I came back to Texas for dental school, attending UTHSC-San Antonio. After receiving my education at one of the best institutions in the country, I honed my clinical skills in Fort Worth. I am involved in multiple professional organizations such as the Capital Area Dental Society, the Texas Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. My passion within dentistry is to motivate and help my patients understand that their dental and overall health are interconnected. Anything we do to improve your dental health will have a positive effect on the rest of your body, and vice versa.
My passion in life is pizza! Luckily my wife Sony (also a UT Alum) and I have come to Austin at a great time. There are new pizza places popping up all the time (my favorite being Via 313), so if you have any recommendations please let me know! In our free time we love exploring the city, going hiking with our dog Solo (named after “Han Solo” from Star Wars of course), going to comedy shows, and best of all trying new food!
